We need to stake OUR claim on entertainment, as people striving for MORALITY: We are demanding entertainment with a message like Outlandish who bring it, and with a moral message! Outlandish will be headlining MAS Youth’s Voices For Change in their first United States tour.

There are young and talented artists with a message to share all across the USA and MAS Youth is seeking you out with our National Talent Search…a search for any person who has any type of performance art (rap, spoken word, poetry, etc.) that is promoting a message…and who just might change the face of entertainment!

The winners of the MAS Youth Talent Search will open for Outlandish on the Voices For Change tour and will be on the CD (in some form, depending on the art) that will be sold nationwide during the tour!

We had a whopping 65 teams and over 750 athletes participate in the 6th Annual MYathlon 2008 this past weekend. Teams came as far as North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and not to mention all around Florida! Athletes from ages 9 and older (even parents played!) played in a weekend-long tournament of football, soccer, and basketball games. An Awards Ceremony to celebrate the success of all the players topped off the weekend with trophies galore. MAS Tampa thanks all the athletes, parents, and supporters for participating and looks forward to seeing new and familiar faces next year!

You can view some pictures in our photo section. If you have photos you would like to see posted, send them to us!

Look for future MY Give and MY Revive events every month. If you have an idea for an activity use our contact form and let your voice be heard.

The students of Muslim American Society at the University of South Florida celebrated Black History Month by holding an event in conjunction with the Muslim Student Association and Black Student Union. The event entitled “Root Movement: African Influence on Islam in America” shone light on the topic of not only the history of Islam in Africa but how African Americans were and still are at the forefront of the Islamic movement in America.

The event presented speakers such as Dr. Mozella Mitchell, Professor and Chair of the Religious Studies Department at USF; Askia Muhammad, an Imam and Activist in the Tampa area; and Imam Mahdi Bray, the Director of MAS Freedom Foundation.

MAS@USF thanks our speakers, the attendees, and the MSA and BSU for co-sponsoring a great event! For pictures, see our photo section.
